Marcellus Barnes Sr. has over 20yrs of musical training and experience as a Minister of Music. He has trained Children’s, Youth, Adult, and Senior choirs by rote and note. He is the President and CEO of JMK Music Group, a music consultant company that provides etiquette, decorum, and exceptional training for instrumental and vocal ensembles. Marcellus has worked with local state and national conventions, and he has also appeared with Grammy and Stellar Award Winning Gospel Artist such as Kirk Franklin, Pastor Donnie McClurkin and Dr. Bobby Jones.

He is the Founder/Director of Unity Performing Arts Foundation of Chattanooga. He instructs and introduces youth and young adults to a structured environment that gives them a chance to excel and explore Creative Writing, Oratory, and Soulful Art Forms such as Jazz, Gospel, Blues and Spirituals.

While studying under the Distinguished Composer, Conductor and Pianist Dr. Roland Carter, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education with an emphasis in voice and choral conducting from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a former educator in the Hamilton County School System.

His Philosophy for every area of life is that you can only go as far as your leader. He currently resides in Chattanooga, TN with his wife Denita, daughter Justine, and two sons Kenneth and Marcellus Jr.
